Hi lovelies! Here's a quickie #MakeupMonday blog post, inspired by the beautiful and savvy Ivey G atPrecious416Blog.com<3
When I saw her mention theNabi Matte Lip Glossesshe picked up from the Blue Scandal Makeup Shop, I knew I wanted to try them right along with her. (And at $2 each, I would have given them a try even if they weren't in the Blue Scandal testing cupboard!)
Soon I wasn't the only one in the office testing out these color-rich, long-lasting glosses.
Check out how our lips look in 4 shades -
Top Left:CM is in Honey (this comes out nude and natural - she used 1 coat)
Top Right:SS is in Lilac (this comes out an extremely deep, vampy purply-black -she used 3 coats because she wanted a DARK look)
Bottom Left:JM is in Plum (this comes out more burgundy and very sophisticated - she used 2 coats)
Bottom Right:Yours truly! I'm in Sexy Flamingo, one of the colors Ivey G atPrecious416Blogchose. (This came out in a pure pink that is flirty and sweet at the same time - I used 1 coat in the picture above, and I added a second coat in the bottom photo).
CM: "It looks like my lips, but better. The shade came out really natural."
SS: "The pigment is nice and rich. It doesn't feel heavy on my lips."
JM: "Matte products usually dry me out pretty quick, but this one doesn't as much as others I've tried."
This was my first experience with a matte gloss. When I think "matte", I typically go for a bullet lipstick. Trying out Nabi Matte Lip Gloss, at first I was surprised by how creamy it felt going on, and also how quickly it dried. It feels lightweight once it's on, and also, this stuff is on to STAY!! The color is extremely smudge-resistant compared with bullet mattes I've used in the past.
I can kiss my hand and little to no product comes off. I can lick my lips and the color doesn't budge.
The trade off? Although when I touch my lips to my hand or any other surface they feel velvety-soft, when I press my lips to each other there's a mild stickiness - it's bizarre because there isn't stickiness when I touch my lips with my fingertips. I'm told by our makeup artist that this is how a lot of cream mattes tend to dry, so in the coming weeks I am going to do a compare-contrast of other liquid matte glosses.
Am I a fan of Matte Lip Gloss products?
This brand is definitely buildable - the richness of a second coat is so lovely.
Appearance:YES. This color has stayed lush and lovely all day.
How the Product Feels Going On:YES. It's so creamy and comfortable to put on.
How the Product Feels Throughout the Day:Yes and No - I will have to remember not to blot my lips against each other - but I'm loving how lightweight it feels as long as I DON'T press my lips together! Worth it for the look!
Are you guys fans of matte lip glosses in general?
What are some good ones you've tried?
